The Avant Gardener was conceived in 1988 and is still owned and operated by Darlene Sanders, an avid gardener herself, with a passion for old garden roses.

The store is brimming with an enticing collection of functional and decorative accessories for the home and garden. Quality tools, books, seeds, bulbs, stationery, birdfeeders, furniture and gorgeous pots are irresistibly displayed together with fine giftware and fragrant bath products.

Our store instills a fresh yet soothing feeling with its cream and Wedgewood green colour scheme, lofty space and craftsmanly air of a turn-of-the-century department store. The distinction between outdoors and in is softened with internal windows and parkland murals lining the tall display units. An upstairs and trellised back patio add to the charm.

Each season brings new delights to The Avant Gardener, especially at Christmas as we present a wonderful variety of tree ornaments and giftware - all linked by the thread of gardening. Visit us soon and you will understand why BCTV recently featured Avant Gardener Shop on their 6 PM news.
